A new chapter begins for Cessnock Leagues Club, part of Cessnock Hospitality Group. Cessnock Leagues Club (the Club) has officially unveiled a $25 million redevelopment, marking an exciting new chapter for the Club and the evolving Cessnock community. As one of the Club’s trusted technology partners, SENPOS has supported the Club’s hospitality operations as the venue continues to grow, and are pleased to now see the unveiling of months of major development.
We caught up with Paul Cousins, CEO of Cessnock Leagues Club, to hear his perspective on the significant improvements, what it means for the Club and the opportunities it creates for the local community.
Considered the largest project in the Club’s 46-year history, the $25 million transformation has doubled its capacity to accommodate up to 1,400 guests. The result is a larger, more modern destination designs to bring members, visitors and the local community together through dining, entertainment and social experiences.
Creating new dining and entertainment experiences
The redevelopment includes a new restaurant, expand value dining and café spaces, a new outdoor precinct with alfresco dining, dedicated areas for live entertainment and a children’s playground. Dining and entertainment have been thoughtfully considered throughout the project, with a range of new spaces giving patrons more choice and creating opportunities to enjoy the Club in different ways.
One of the newest offerings is Seasons Restaurant, featuring carefully crafted dishes drawing on quality Hunter Valley produce and premium local wines. Flavours are enhanced through the use of a Mibrasa charcoal oven, which uses intense heat and natural charcoal to create a unique dining experience.
For a more relaxed dining experience, Terrace Kitchen is positioned alongside the outdoor terrace, while Homeground Café offers quick bites and coffee, both which have been renovated too.
Customer value and entertainment also remain a key focus, with regular dining and bar specials, raffles, bingo, trivia and live music to help create an active and welcoming destination for members and customers.
Investing in the future
The redevelopment represents a significant investment in the Club and its future, with the expanded venue also expected to support local suppliers and create additional employment opportunities. The Club currently employs around 100 people, with that number expected to grow to approximately 125 employees over the next two years as the new facilities become fully established.
For Paul, the broader impact of the project is just as important as the transformation of the venue itself, with the new facilities providing “more opportunities and more space for our community to come together and socially connect,” he said.
The redevelopment is also expected to deliver a broader economic contribution, with the Club’s increased capacity supporting greater spending with local suppliers and creating new employment opportunities. Paul said the venue’s increased capacity “will also make a greater contribution to our local economy through increased spending with local suppliers and, more importantly, increased employment opportunities,” supporting the Club’s role as an important contributor to the local community.
