Located in the heart of Albury’s Central Business District, the Commercial Club Albury (the Club) has a long-standing presence in the local community. Offering a range of dining, live entertainment, event and conference facilities, and fitness centre, the Club continues to expand its offering to members and visitors.
The Club encompasses the Commercial Club Albury, Albury Commercial Golf Club and Albury Brew House. With significant developments over the years and a new Market Kitchen bistro and bar on the horizon, having technology that supports its operations and future growth is essential.
Working with Account Manager Brendan Driscoll, Club IT Manager Ben Harper has connected key systems, streamlined point-of-sale (POS) operations, and explored new ways to engage members.
A smooth transition with the right support
Managing multiple operations requires a POS system that works across the business while remaining easy for staff to use. For the Club, transitioning to a new system initially seemed like a significant undertaking, with a large team to train and multiple integrations to consider. Working closely with the Implementation Team, the transition involved very little downtime during day-to-day operations.
With around 120 staff to familiarise with the system, a user-friendly system backed by great support was essential. For Ben, it’s important to be able to call for support and speak to people “who know exactly who you are and what systems you have, then jump straight on to help”. Since moving to SENPOS, Ben says the team has consistently felt understood and supported.
Integrations enhance operations and member engagement
The Club works with several systems to support its operations, with SENPOS integrating across gaming, accounting and property management. This includes a MiClub integration for golf operations and loyalty, as well as a tailored interface for the Club’s Thirsty Camel bottle shop. Throughout the transition and ongoing implementation, the Support Team has played an important role in helping the Club get the most out of its technology.
Ben highlights the value of working with Product Specialist Tim McGufficke to understand a roadmap of “what’s coming and where it’s going, which in our previous experience wasn’t very clear and we didn’t have the ability to stay updated”. This ongoing support gives the Club confidence in its technology and helps the team understand how future developments could support its operations.
The Club has also introduced Wymac member kiosks, integrated with SENPOS to support member rewards and promotions. Customers can now receive rewards such as drink cards and café vouchers directly on their membership cards, allowing staff to “issue rewards seamlessly”.
Creating new ways to engage and attract customers to visit is a top priority for the Club, and with SENPOS “it’s easier and clearer to set up promotions, and the support for this is very responsive”, explained Ben. Having a system that simplifies promotion management gives the Club greater confidence to try new ideas and be proactive in member engagement.
A partnership focused on future growth
Relationships are important to Ben, whether it’s building partnerships with suppliers or connecting with other venues across the wider hospitality industry. He values the relationship with SENPOS, particularly account manager Brendan Driscoll, who he describes as “a great advocate who wants the best for us, keeping the conversation going to check in”. He describes Brendan as being committed to “selling the relationship, not the product”, with an ongoing focus on supporting the Club’s goals and business growth.
SENPOS provides the Club with a foundation to support its operations, strengthen member engagement and explore new opportunities as it continues to grow.
