This year marks a major milestone for our parent company Sharp Electronics Group as they celebrate 50 years in business. On 17 May, they also finalised an important rebrand to Sharp Office.
Founded and owned by John Duncan for 44 years, Sharp started from humble beginnings in 1971 with John and his partner selling electronic calculators out of the boots of their cars. Having won the Sharp Newcastle dealership and with business technology growing to include cash registers and photocopiers, it wasn’t long before they needed to set up shop.
“The key to Johns early success stems from the belief that everything was based around great service and honesty. If there’s a stuff up – just admit it and fix it. The result was incredibly strong relationships built on trust”.
This proved to be a lasting legacy that formed the foundations of the business for many years to come. After substantial growth throughout the 80’s and 90’s, the inception of SENPOS Point of Sale marked a new phase of growth for the company.
“SENPOS was a real game-changer and it’s when our offering really shifted to the next level. We created our own point of sale system based on all the knowledge we had from working with clubs, pubs, cash registers and the demands of multi-terminal businesses. The big difference is that SENPOS is solely done by us. So we live or die by how good and responsive we are. There is no third party, we programme, install and most importantly, support the product in-house”.
Initially favoured locally, SENPOS quickly grew popular across NSW and is now regarded nationally as one of the leading brands of POS, particularly for the pub and club industry.
“We aim to help you stay ahead of the game when it comes to how your business operates and we want to help you solve your greatest challenges. We don’t look the other way when things become difficult. We are here to help”.
The Sharp Office rebrand combines two arms of the business, Sharp Electronics Group -the business technology division, and OfficeTrend – the office products and furniture division. Rebranding to one name makes it simpler so that we will be recognised as the one trusted company by customers new, and long-standing.
SENPOS Point of Sale remains unchanged as a stand-alone arm of the business and a brand within its own right. From 17 May, changes were made to the parent company logo and the building on Lambton Road, Broadmeadow (as pictured).
